Despite Loss, W. Laxers Move Up Poll

Print More

Despite last Saturday’s 16-12 loss at Princeton, the women’s lacrosse team (5-1, 2-1 Ivy) moved up a spot to No. 8 in the IWLCA poll announced Monday. Cornell, which had broken into the top 10 for the first time in school history on March 5, moved up a spot for the second consecutive week.

With 130 points, the Red is just one point behind No. 7 Syracuse. Receiving all 10 first place votes, 5-0 Georgetown remains in the top spot for the third consecutive week. The rest of the top 10 remained fairly consistent, the only exception being defending champ Maryland, which fell from No. 7 to No. 9 after falling to Ohio State on Sunday.

Other Ivy League teams in the top 20 include No. 2 Princeton, No. 12 Yale, and No. 14 Dartmouth. After defeating Brown 7-6 on Saturday, Dartmouth (4-2, 2-1) is currently tied with the Red for third place in the League. Always an enigma for Cornell, the Green will climb the Hill this Saturday at 1 pm.
