What might you expect from a solo album from Doug Martsch, the guitar-wielding frontman for the indie-pop archetype Built to Spill? Maybe a provocatively weird, outlandish, beautiful, and ingenius concept album — something along the lines of the recent Flaming Lips release? Or what about an album that would embody the past decade of indie rock but with an innovative and brilliant evolutionary step? Martsch’s solo debut, Now You Know, is none of these, which is not necessarily bad
