Two years ago, I wrote a column in response to the athletic department’s attempt to get rid of cursing in Lynah Rink. Although I don’t believe in the infringement of first amendment rights, I concede that cheering can be effective with or without profanity.

However, University J.A. Mary Beth Grant’s statement in Wednesday’s Sun is in one word blasphemous. Grant has announced the end of the fish-throwing ritual before the Harvard game.
