A Brown University student was assaulted on Sept. 6 while homophobic slurs were directed toward her at a party.

According to an article that appeared in The Brown Daily Herald on Sept. 12, the victim was treated for eye and head injuries at a local hospital. Police later released a campus crime alert.

The investigation is ongoing, with campus police still searching for eyewitnesses to the crime, according to the Herald. Also according to the Herald, Brown students were angered that the University did not directly address the homophobic hate crime on campus.

The crime in Providence has resonated here in Ithaca as well.
