If the Cornell-hosted Bill Field Invitational, featuring many of the best teams in the nation, is any indicator of what is to come in the race for the national championship, the Red has a lot to look forward to in the spring. With two dominating second-half performances, both Cornell's men's (8-1) and women's (8-1) polo teams captured the tournament championship with wins against Connecticut yesterday morning.
Men's Team
The men's come-from-behind 21-14 victory was especially sweet, as they avenged their lone loss of the season, which came at the hand of the Huskies just a few weeks ago.
"It definitely feels good," said head polo coach David Eldredge '81.
Struggling early in the first half, the men fell behind 6-2 after the first chukker before mounting a comeback and cutting the deficit to one goal at halftime.
"We outplayed them in the second," said Eldredge, "but it was tense there for a little while
