Uris to Rock Around the Clock

Workaholics and procrastinators — two groups which typify many University students — will rejoice to find out that starting today, operating hours in both Uris and Olin libraries will be significantly longer.

Uris Library will now be open 24 hours a day between 10:00 a.m. on Sunday to 10:00 p.m. on Friday. Sunday through Thursday, Olin Library will extend its closing time two hours to 2:00 a.m. Olin will also open two hours earlier — at 10:00 a.m. — on Saturdays and Sundays.

In making these decisions last semester, Cornell University Library, spearheaded by their student-library advisory council, responded to students’ requests made over the past several years, according to Sarah Thomas, University librarian. Thomas said that as she examined other institutions around the nation, such as New York University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, most offer some form of 24-hour service to students.
