Weather or Not!

So yeah … the sun is gone. But the temperatures are still warm, so life isn’t all that bad. Yesterday, I felt like I was at UC Santa Barbara. Last year I got to visit that campus, and what a difference a couple thousand miles makes. For one thing, temperatures there are pretty consistently right around what our high was yesterday, and that makes all the difference in the world. Additionally, the dorm room I stayed in had an ocean view. Can you imagine Mary Donlon Hall having an ocean view? The kid who lived there woke up to the sounds of the ocean every morning. I wake up to the sounds of four roommates. In any case, today’s weather will yield mostly cloudy skies with intermittent showers throughout. Highs will continue to be mild, up near 55 degrees. Tonight, as temperatures drop to near-freezing, a shower or flurry can be expected with no major accumulation either way.

Weather Wisdom

To the Thawing Wind

“Come with rain. O loud Southwester!

Bring the singer, bring the nester;

Give the buried flower a dream;

make the settled snowbank steam;

Find the brown beneath the white;

But whate’er you do tonight,

Bathe my window, make it flow,

Melt it as the ice will go;

Melt the glass and leave the sticks

Like a hermit’s crucifix;

Burst into my narrow stall;

Swing the picture on the wall;

Run the rattling pages o’er;

Scatter poems on the floor;

Turn the poet out of door.”
