Cornell’s softball and men’s lacrosse teams competed on the national stage this spring when both squads vied for the chance to win an NCAA championship. The women upset No. 3 Long Beach State, 2-1, in their tournament opener before falling to No. 2 Alabama and unranked Mississippi Valley State in their final two games, while the men toppled No.17 Hobart, 11-5, at Schoellkopf Field before dropping a close match to eventual national runner-up Navy, 6-5, in the quarterfinal. Both teams won Ivy League championships during their regular seasons, and both capped the postseason with several athletes finding spots on their respective All-America rosters.
