With Florida preparing for its third hurricane in almost as many weeks, it seems appropriate to turn attention to movies whose job is to remind us of the power of mother nature (and of the power of good special effects and a bad script). Yes, it’s those woefully predictable and lovably corny disaster movies that we watch to achieve some strange enjoyment from seeing people get swallowed up by fires, locusts, or whatever else happens to go awry.
