Cornell Takes Out Lehigh

The No. 14 wrestling team made a triumphant return to Ithaca yesterday, defeating rival No. 12 Lehigh, 19-14, before a record crowd of 4,425 at Newman Arena.

“Having so many alumni in attendance, it’s obviously one of our largest victories ever,” said head coach Rob Koll. “We haven’t been home all year. It’s our first home match, so it’s really fun to get back here. It’s been a really rough first part of the year as far as injuries; hopefully the second part will be a lot easier.”

Cornell (3-4) was coming off a mixed winter break. The team battled numerous injuries, and lost matches against top teams like No. 4 Michigan and No. 8 Oklahoma. But the Red looked solid yesterday, aided by the return of senior All-Americans Dustin Manotti and Joe Mazzurco.
