This past weekend, current and former members of the Red track teams competed in USATF Outdoor championships. Of the six who competed, three reached Sunday’s finals: Max King ’02, Morgan Uceny ’07 and senior Muhammad Halim.

Uceny was the only Cornellian to place in the top-5 with a fourth-place finish in the 800 meters. King, who entered the meet representing Oregon TC, placed eighth, while Halim finished 12th in the triple jump.

Other track members competing in the meet were Emory Mort ’05, Emily McCabe ’06 – who will represent in United States in the Pan American Games in late July – and rising sophomore Natalie Gengel.

These accomplishments follow two impressive performances from the Red earlier this month. At the outdoor 2007 NCAA Championships, Rayon Taylor ’07 became the first Cornell track athlete to win an NCAA championship since Charlie Moore ’51 in 1951. Canaday ran 2:21:43 in the 2007 Grandma’s Marathon to qualify for the 2008 US Olympic Trials, besting his own school record and personal record.
