[img_assist|nid=28218|title=Setting Standards|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=|height=0]Prof. John Siliciano, law, and Mary Opperman, vice president for human resources, both co-chairs of the Cornell University NCAA Recertification Steering Committee, present the committee’s progress to the Graduate and Professional Student Assembly at a meeting yesterday. Cornell’s Director of Athletics Andy Noel and Associate Athletic Director Steve Erber are in the background. At the meeting, which was called by the NCAA, the committee presented the information they obtained from a review of the University’s Athletics Department and its compliance with NCAA regulations. The review, which is completed every 10 years, evaluates the University’s Athletic Department on three criteria: governance, academic integrity and student services. The Athletic Department also presented the results obtained from a department-wide internal review. The University met NCAA standards on all grounds.
