Common Council Alderperson Accuses County Sheriff of Sexual Harrassment

The New York State Division of Human Rights found probable cause to hear a complaint filed by Alderperson Robin Holtham Korherr (D-5th Ward) accusing Tompkins County Sheriff Peter Meskill of sexual harassing her while she was working as his confidential secretary, The Ithaca Journal reported.
Additionally, Korherr is filing a retaliation complaint, claiming that she was retaliated against after taking legal action.
According to The Journal, the claims are being investigated by the State, rather than the County’s human rights commission, to avoid conflicts of interest.
The Ithaca Journal reported that the case will be heard at a public hearing in from of an administrative judge. According to The Journal, Tompkins County Attorney Jonathan Wood said a hearing has not yet been scheduled.
