The men’s polo team seemed to be in okay shape at the start of its Friday night match against opponent Virginia in Charlottesville, Va — a match against a tough team in a tough arena. Cornell was trailing the Cavaliers by two, 5-3, at the end of the first chukker.
Any thoughts of a combeack were short-lived for the Red, however, as Virginia went on a 15-goal run in the second chukker. The Red eventually lost by a score of 25-3.
Meanwhile, back at Oxley Equestrian Center, the women’s team trounced Massachusetts Saturday night, 21-5. Cornell was led by Emily Bold, who scored 13 goals for the Red.
Cornell started slow, but built up its lead through consistent play and steady scoring throughout the chukkers. The Red scored six, six and five goals in the final three periods.
