This weekend, the fencing team is hoping to improve over last weekend’s losses as it heads to Brandeis for the IFA Championships. The fencers will face off both as a team and individually against 12 teams including the Ancient Eight, Brandeis, Boston College, MIT, Vassar and NYU. “Last year, we placed fourth and many of us also placed well individually,” said senior co-saber captain Alex Heiss, adding that the team hopes to do just as well this year.
This tournament falls in between the end of the women’s regular season and the NCAA regionals that will take place in March. While the women will compete as they would in normal competition, these bouts will not count towards the women’s NCAA records.
“This weekend will be good practice for us since we’ll see many of the same people at NCAA regionals,” Heiss said.
