Dear A to Z, A friend of mine asked me to his fraternity formal this weekend, and I’m in a bit of a pickle. He is a great guy with a lot to offer … to some other girl. He’s funny, smart and about a 7 for looks, but he just isn’t my type. Although it shouldn’t suggest that my type is dull, unintelligent and a 4, I don’t feel the same way about him as I have good reason to believe he does about me. Nevertheless, I’m looking forward to going with him, but I don’t know how to act at the event. Should I tell him that we’re going just as friends?
