Law Student Found Dead in Quarry Street Apartment

Daniel Ferrero, a second-year law student, died on Sunday of natural causes, the University announced Tuesday. Ferrero’s body was found in his apartment on Quarry Street by friends and Ithaca Police officers.

The University did not disclose the cause of Ferrero’s death.

“I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Daniel Ferrero, a talented and promising young member of the Cornell family,” President David Skorton said in a statement. “On behalf of the entire community, I extend my most heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and classmates. In this season of coming together with loved ones, our thoughts and memories are also with Daniel and others who are no longer with us; and we take comfort in the knowledge that they will not be forgotten.”

Ferrero, 26, graduated from the University of Florida in 2008. He was originally from Venezuela, according to his Facebook profile. Ferrero’s wife, Reyna Olivio, lives in Brooklyn.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday in Anabel Taylor Hall’s Founders Room from 4 to 6 p.m.
