Hip-Hop Artist Nelly Will Perform on Slope Day

Hip hop artist Nelly will headline the annual Slope Day concert on May 6, a Slope Day Programming Board executive board member confirmed to The Sun.

The SDPB plans to officially announce the headliner at Thursday’s Student Assembly meeting.

Nelly is the stage name of Cornell Haynes, Jr., who Billboard ranked the No. 3 Artist of the Decade in 2009. His first solo album, Country Grammar, made its debut in 2000 and reached the top spot on the Billboard. It remains Nelly’s best-selling album with 8.4 million copies sold in the United States. Nelly released his fifth album, 5.0, in 2010, including the single “Just a Dream,” which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard and is his highest-charting song since 2005 “Grillz.”

Previous Slope Day headliners have included Drake in 2010, The Pussycat Dolls in 2009, Gym Class Heroes in 2008, T.I. in 2007, Ben Folds in 2006, Snoop Dog in 2005, and Kanye West and OAR in 2004.
