Student Hit by Car on East Avenue

A female student was hit by a car on East Avenue near the A.D. White House around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday. The car, a gray Honda, was driven by another Cornell student.University officials declined on Wednesday night to identify either the pedestrian or the driver.The pedestrian was transported to Cayuga Medical Center. She did not appear to be seriously injured, according to emergency radio transmissions.“I’m calling this a head injury,” a Bangs Ambulance worker reported via radio. “She has questionable recollection of what happened.”The pedestrian was struck near the crosswalk at the intersection of President’s Drive and East Avenue on Central Campus.“The driver is likely to be cited for failure to yield the right of way at a crosswalk,” Claudia Wheatley, interim deputy University spokes­person, said.
