Police and fire officials responded to a report of a body found in Fall Creek Gorge Saturday.

The body was found at 1 p.m. east of the hydroelectric plant. The death appears to have been caused by an “accidental fall” and no foul play is suspected, according to Blaine Friedlander, assistant director of Cornell press relations.

Friedlander declined to comment further, saying that the investigation is ongoing and the family has yet to be notified. He would not say whether the victim was a Cornell student.

This is the second accidental death in the Fall Creek Gorge this summer. Kendrick Castro ’11 died in a swimming accident in the gorge on May 30, the day after he graduated from the University. Castro was wading upstream with friends in the area of the Stewart Avenue bridge when he slipped and was swept downstream, according to a press release from the University.
