Light in the Piazza Opening Thursday, Nov. 3 Ithaca College. Sponsored by Cornell Cinema and the Latin American Studies Program, Cuban filmmaker Miguel Coyula will present his most recent feature film, Memories of Overdevelopment, this Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. The presentation will be followed by a technical talk with Coyula about the low-budget film’s achievement of such notable digital effects. The film is produced by independent filmmaker and Cornell alum David Leitner ’76, who shot several of the film’s scenes on the Cornell campus. Don’t miss this free event, and what will be an eye-opening explanation of the film’s shots before and after digital manipulation. — Allison Vitkauskas

Lecture, Filmaker Miguel Coyula, Willard Straight Theater, Wednesday 4:30 p.m. Ithaca College will be performing “The Light in the Piazza” early November in the Hoerner Theater. “The Light in the Piazza” was originally a novella by Elizabeth Spencer and convertedinto a musical by Craig Lucas and Adam Guettel, who won two Tony Awards for the musical. It follows Clara Johnson through a dreamy, post-World-War-II Italy as she falls in love with an Italian despite her mother’s opposition. — Kyle Chang
