With the graduation of eight seniors from the 2011-12 roster, eight freshmen join the squad in preparation for another competitive season. The new class features a group of four strong forwards, a trio of defensemen and a goaltender.

The new forwards — Anna Zorn, Jess Brown, Victoria Pittens and Taylor Woods — sport experience from national Canadian Under-19 competition and U.S. Under-16 competitions, and will look to help on the offense with spots left vacant by five of last year’s senior forwards. Zorn also adds some lineage spirit, as she is the younger sister of Liz Zorn ’10 — a key forward on the 2009-10 Cornell team that made an unprecedented run to the NCAA finals.

In the defensive zone of the rink, the team will see newcomers Kelly Murray, Morgan Richardson and Cassandra Poudrier. The three women come from Canada and have skills to add to the team.

Finally, goalie Stefannie Moak rounds out the new batch of players and brings the Red netminder count back up to three. With Amanda Mazzotta ’12 now gone, the starting goaltending spot is open, and Moak has an opportunity to prove herself and fight for it.

The eight new faces show great potential to help the Red continue to pose a threat in the league and find another year of strong results.
