Female Allegedly Raped Near Suspension Bridge Sunday Morning

The Cornell University Police Department is investigating an alleged rape that occurred on campus at 3:45 a.m. Sunday morning.

A female victim said she was walking down the stairs leading to the south side of the suspension bridge, north of the Arts Quad, when she was accosted and raped, police said. She said she was grabbed from behind by an unknown male who forced her to have sexual intercourse, according to police.

The victim told police that the assailant was a “dark-skinned male or Hispanic-white male,” between 5’9” and 6’0″ tall. After the reported crime, the suspect fled north across the suspension bridge, according to CUPD.
