Ithaca firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out in Collegetown early Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., a passerby reported seeing smoke emerge from the second floor of 407 Dryden Rd, according to the Ithaca Fire Department.

Firefighters from the City of Ithaca’s East Hill station arrived on the scene and found a fire breaking out in the two-and-a-half story home. They evacuated the home’s occupants and fought to extinguish the fire, taking about two hours to finish doing so.

None of the home’s occupants or firefighters who responded were injured in the blaze, according to IFD.

Firefighters from Lansing, Newfield and the Cayuga Heights Fire Department assisted the city with responding to other calls while Ithaca firefighters fought the fire.
