New York State Police say they have tentatively identified the skeletal human remains that a NYSEG contractor found in Taughannock Falls State Park Wednesday morning.

The contractor found the remains near power lines along Gorge Road, according to state police. Police worked with Binghamton University’s Department of Anthropology to identify the remains and said Thursday that they think the body is that of Brian K. Austin, a Syracuse resident.

Austin, 41, was reported missing from the Syracuse area in 2011. Police are continuing to investigate the cause and manner of death.
