Ithaca Police are investigating a report that a man was punched in the face early Saturday while walking on University Avenue near Lake Street, according to a crime alert sent Monday.
At around 3:11 a.m. Saturday, the male victim and his friend were approached by two men, the crime alert says.
The two alleged perpetrators did not say anything. One of the men punched the male victim in the face, “causing pain and physical injury,” and then ran south on University Avenue, according to the crime alert.
Police searched the area but were unable to locate the alleged perpetrators. The Ithaca Police Department is continuing to investigate the reported assault.
