This past weekend, the Cornell men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams sent a select group of athletes to Ithaca College to compete in the Ithaca Invitational. Both teams are currently preparing for their upcoming Ivy League Championships.
With only a small squad present, the Red still saw a great deal of success at the invite. In this non-scoring meet, the Red placed first in five races and second in six events.
On the women’s side, freshman Ellie Belilos won the 50 free and took second place in the 100 breast. Senior Stephanie Ah-Quah took first in the 200 free and the 100 free. For the men, senior Harry Harpham took first in the 50 free, while freshman Karol Mlynarski was only .11 behind and took second. Harpham also took second in the 100 back.
According to junior diver Thomas Hallowell, the invite was a good way to prepare for the ever-important Ivy championships coming up this weekend.
