Despite a historic performance from senior Melanie Jorgensen and another team score surpassing 192.500, the Cornell Gymnastics team fell to host William and Mary. The team scored 192.550 in Saturday’s meet, which was just short of the Tribe’s 192.800.

The long trip to Williamsburg, Va. may have hindered the Red’s ability to perform well in such an important meet, according to junior Samantha VanderPutten.

“Everyone knew going into this meet that we would have to do well if we want a chance at qualifying to nationals this year,” she said. “With a nine-hour bus ride beforehand. … It was difficult, but we did a great job being aggressive and performing well on each event.”
