An employee of Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit was arrested for allegedly embezzling nearly $250,000 from the company over the last several years, according to police.

Pamela Johnson of Cortland, N.Y.was charged for Grand Larceny in the Second Degree Wednesday after a “lengthy police investigation” stemming from irregularities found during TCAT’s annual financial audit, according to an Ithaca Police Department press release. Johnson allegedly diverted approximately $247,000 to an unauthorized bank account under the guise of payments to a TCAT vendor.
