Cornell Police issued a crime alert early Monday morning after an armed robbery in Cayuga Heights late Sunday.

The incident — which occurred around 10 p.m. Sunday night — involved a male suspect who entered a residence on The Parkway north of Cornell’s campus and displayed a small caliber handgun, according to the Cornell University Police Department. The victim described the suspect as a white male between five foot six inches and five foot eight inches tall, wearing a white sleeveless shirt, khaki pants and a backpack.

No injuries were reported.

An initial crime alert was sent to the Cornell community at 12:26 a.m. Monday regarding the robbery. A follow-up alert was issued less than an hour later, reporting that the suspect had been apprehended.

On Monday, however, the arrested man was cleared after police discovered he had no involvement in the incident, The Ithaca Voice reported. Cayuga Heights Police are continuing the investigation of the case.
