Cornell, Ithaca Sued Following 2012 Gorge Death of Ph.D. Alumnus

Cornell and the City of Ithaca are facing a lawsuit filed by the family of a Cornellian who fell to his death in the Cascadilla Gorge nearly two years ago, according to court documents.

Alan Young-Bryant M.A. ’07 Ph.D. ’11 was found dead in the gorge during a visit from Los Angeles to see his girlfriend and celebrate her successful defense of her Ph.D. thesis and the completion of her exams. The couple was last seen together at the Chapter House on Dec. 4, 2012, according to court documents.
