FENCING | Cornell Snags Titles at Temple

Cornell’s fencing team got its season off to a great start last weekend at the Temple Open, winning a total of three medals. Sophomore Victoria Wines won gold in the epee event, while senior Olivia Weller took the silver. This was followed by junior Angelica Gangemi, who earned gold in the foil event.

Overall, the day was a huge success for the the Red, with seven Cornell fencers finishing in the top eight for their respective weapons. In foil, freshman Gabriella Zusin got her Cornell career off to a good start taking fifth place, while junior Ediona Sera took seventh in the same event. Meanwhile, in saber, sophomore Anastasia Turin manage to earn sixth just ahead of freshman Regina Chen, who took seventh.

According to Gangemi, the Red owes its strong start to the season to an focused and revamped preseason.
