Jenny Lewis is the coolest woman in music. Not only did she make her showbiz debut in a Jell-O commercial, appear on such classics of syndication as Growing Pains and Golden Girls and star in dozens of late-’80s teen movies, she also served as the cult-worshipped, charismatic front-woman for one of the first true indie sensations of the 2000s, released a bizarrely acerbic/adorable album of duets with her then-boyfriend while her band was on hiatus, surprised the world when her first new track since a 2013 b-sides compilation was dropped without ceremony in the closing credits of HBO’s Girls season two premiere and, now, enjoys a successful solo career completely independent of the afterglow of any of these already impressive accomplishments.
