By MARINA CAITLIN WATTS

A handful of my friends have never seen (500) Days of Summer, which highly disappointing for several reasons. Upon my first viewing, I became enamored with this romantic comedy.  Not because it was particularly romantic, nor because it made me laugh ‘till tears streamed down my face. It didn’t gain my full appreciation because of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, nor was it because Zooey Deschanel had a song on the soundtrack. I appreciated it because of its concrete and tangible depiction of the various phases of liking someone, and falling in love (whatever that means). It is a realistic story, and that is what sets itself apart from other films in the same genre.

Its appeal to the masses and quirkiness of our star-crossed lovers draw you in, and have a lasting impact.  Fans of When Harry Met Sally or Up in the Air would be the best appreciators of (500) Days.  If that isn’t reason enough for you to see this movie, then here are five more that should spark some interest in you.
