Ithaca firefighters rescued an injured 19 year old male at the base of the Beebe Lake dam at around 8 a.m. Friday.
The male was seriously injured and hypothermic, according to according to Ithaca Police Public Information Officer Thomas Basher Jr. It took firefighters approximately 30 minutes in 10 degree weather to rescue him using ropes and ladders.
Bangs Ambulance took the male to Jessup Field, where he was airlifted to Robert Packer regional trauma center in Pennsylvania.
Cornell police are investigating how he ended up below the dam.
