FROM THE EDITOR: The Adventure Begins

Print More

ON SATURDAY, The Sun elected a new team of editors and managers to helm and direct this paper. As the incoming board, we are excited and ready to continue the incredible work of the 133rd Editorial Board and build The Sun’s voice on campus and in the Ithaca community.

The outgoing board launched a new website, grew our social media presence and propelled The Sun towards a digital-first mentality. We intend to further this progress and improve how The Sun reaches our readers by actively pursuing new initiatives. These projects range from re-establishing our bi-weekly email newsletter to launching a new site focused on our blogs.

This uniquely innovative spirit also extends to the quality and content of our stories. Cornell, for all its diversity and complexity, still has its flaws, and it remains our top priority to bring you — our esteemed readers — in-depth coverage of the Cornell news, athletics and culture that you care about. We urge you to hold us accountable as we continue informing our campus.

To that end, we are striving to make The Sun as transparent, accountable and accessible as possible for our readers. Managing Editor Phoebe Keller ’18 and I are here to hear your questions, concerns and ideas at public office hours held twice a week — every Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at our office at 139 West State Street and every Thursday from 4 to 5 p.m. in the staff lounge of Olin Library.

We have an incredibly exciting future ahead of us at The Sun, and our dedication to serving the Cornell community and our readers continues to grow. There are so many opportunities and possibilities for us to explore, and I thank you for joining us on this wild adventure. Please never hesitate to reach out to me at
