Ithaca Police Report Robbery on East Buffalo Street

The Ithaca City Police say they are are currently investigating a reported robbery that allegedly occurred around 1:35 am on Thursday in the 100 block of East Buffalo Street.

The victim — a male student — reported that he was robbed as he was walking West on the street. He recounted being grabbed by his shirt from behind by the suspect and asked to turn over his wallet.

The suspect reportedly took out a blade or a small knife, the victim said. There was a brief, unsuccessful struggle over the victim’s cell phone, before the suspect reportedly punched the victim and left the area on foot in an unknown direction.

Officers were unable to locate the suspect in the surrounding area. The victim describes the suspect as “a black male of average height, wearing dark colored clothing” according to the police report.

Investigation of this incident is open and ongoing.
