Following a traffic stop on the 900 block of Mitchell Street, east of Collegetown, a Cornell police officer arrested Damien Blackman for possession of materials to sell drugs, according to a CUPD press release.

The officer originally stopped Blackman, 35, for failing to stop at a stop sign at 12:05 a.m. Monday, the release said. Officers then searched the car with Blackman’s consent and seized powdered cocaine, marijuana, prescription medications, more than one ounce of heroin and half an ounce of crack cocaine from his backpack.

Police also found scales, packaging material and over $6,600 in cash, according to the release.

Blackman was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree with intent to sell, the release said. He was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail on $30,000 cash bail or $60,000 bond and will receive a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
