Ithaca police arrested four passengers in a car Monday night after discovering narcotics and cash during a traffic stop, according to a press release from the Ithaca Police Department.

An officer stopped the car — which the driver, Khalifa Middleton, was operating with a loud muffler and only a permit — at the 800 block of West Buffalo Street at 7:32 p.m., the release said.

The officer noticed the smell of marijuana while speaking to Middleton and found that she and two passengers were in possession of 26 grams of crack cocaine, 6 grams of heroin and several thousand dollars, according to the release.

A fourth passenger, Rochelle Landon, was arrested for two outstanding bench warrants issued by the Ithaca City Court, IPD reported.

Middleton and passengers Denzel Daniels and Martese Jackson were charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree. Landon was charged with false personation and theft of services, her previous bench warrants. Middleton was also charged with New York State Vehicle Traffic Law violations, according to the IPD.

Police transported the four suspects to IPD headquarters and all have been arraigned, the release said.

Middleton and Jackson were released on their own recognizance and will return to Ithaca City Court at a later date. Daniels and Landon were remanded to Tompkins County Jail and will return to court June 10, according to the release.
