Musical group Louis the Child will perform a free show on the Arts Quad this Saturday night, in an event hosted by the Cornell Concert Commission to cap off the fall’s orientation week.

The Chicago based EDM group — made up of Freddy Kennett and Robby Hauldren — is best known for its single “It’s Strange,” according to Aol Entertainment. Louis the Child performed at Coachella, Governor’s Ball and Ultra Music Festival this year and has received praise from big industry names like Taylor Swift and Lorde.

“We’re excited to be bringing Louis the Child because they’re a great DJ duo on the rise, and we felt that they’d bring an energetic show to students starting off their year,” said CCC Executive director Mason Montgomery ’17. “CCC was glad to be able to bring an EDM artist, something that we’ve heard students have been wanting.”

In addition to the free 7 p.m. concert, Cornell’s class councils will be hosting “Welcome Weekend Fun” on Ho Plaza, replete with free cookies, games and giveaways, according to a press release.

Over 300 people have expressed interest in attending the event, according to the concert’s student-run Facebook page.
