Two new drinking and dining establishments — The Range and Due Amici — opened on the Ithaca Commons at ribbon cutting ceremonies on Sept. 2.

The Range is a laid-back Western-style bar, ideal for socializing and entertainment, according to the Downtown Ithaca Alliance. Due Amici is a Mediterranean-Italian fusion restaurant which serves delicious options from both cuisines.

“The atmosphere they provide at The Range is unlike the other bars in the area,” said Darlene Donohue, a representative from the Downtown Ithaca Alliance. “The Range with its John Wayne photos, country themed wall murals, and multiple animal heads displayed on the walls provides an outdoorsy, wild west vibe.”

Experienced Ithaca bar owners — Andrew Schreck and Tommy Grozier — are the creators of The Range which is located above Trader K’s on the Ithaca Commons, according to the DIA.

“One great feature of the new bar is the live band music it will host,” Schreck said. “We will be having bands of all different types come and play three to four nights a week.”

He also said that the restaurant will feature an enjoyable interior assembly.

“[We have] lots of things on the walls to read and admire as well as a great staff to keep you entertained,” Schreck said.

Hicham Oulida, owner of Due Amici, has extensive experience in restaurant business, according to the DIA.

“Oulida has roughly 15 years of pizzeria operations experience,” Donohue said.

They added that the Mediterranean aspect of the restaurant was inspired by Oulida’s family, and the dishes he made for his brothers growing up.

“It’s exciting to have Due Amici on The Commons because the mix of Moroccan and Italian foods that it serves are dishes most people will probably enjoy eating regularly,” she said.
