Students living in the Highland House Apartments at 316 Thurston Ave. awoke to a series of vandalized vehicles in the building’s parking lot Thursday morning.

Damage to cars ranged from upward-bent license plates to snapped–and even stolen–windshield wipers. The front windshield wipers were ripped off a Mercedes SUV. At the scene, a Nissan Murano and a Jeep Grand Cherokee were left with damaged windshield wipers, but the wipers still remained attached to the vehicles.

Christine Gao ’22, a Highland House Apartments resident, said her neighbor’s car was broken into. The neighbor had cash and other valuables in the car that were stolen, Gao said.

Greg Martin, manager of the Highland House Apartments, said in a phone call to  The Sun that the crime occurred at around 2 or 3 a.m. Thursday morning. Martin also shared that security camera footage of the vandal does exist.

The Ithaca Police Department did not respond to a request for comment by the time of publication.
