Men’s Swim and Dive Splits Tri-Meet While Women Sustain Losses in Ivy League Showdown

Men’s and women’s swim and dive traveled to Hanover, New Hampshire for its first Ivy League action of the year against Harvard and Dartmouth on Nov. 21 and 22. The men were able to split the meet, taking down Dartmouth by a score of 158-142 and losing to Harvard, 215-85. The women’s team fell in both contests, losing 161-130 to Dartmouth and 191-108 to Harvard. 

On the men’s side, sophomore Max Reis-Trovillion headlined in diving, placing fourth in the three meter dive with 304.4 points and ninth in the one meter dive with 265.35 points. Senior Pietro Ubertalli led the way in swimming, placing first in the 200-yard free with a time of 1:36.25 and second in the 200-yard IM, coming in at 1:48.68. 

Junior Haihan Xu impressed in the breaststroke events, placing third in the 200-yard event with a time of 1:59.35 and second in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 54.78. Other stand out performances include junior Blake Conway placing second in the 100-yard backstroke, sophomore Josh Toothman coming in third in the 50-yard free, Senior Jacques Grove placing third in the 100-yard free, and sophomore Gabe Anagnoson earning second in the 200 yard backstroke. 

The men placed second in both the 200-yard medley and freestyle relays, with the quartet of Toothman, Grove, senior Mac Marsh, and senior Daniel Simoes finishing the freestyle relay with a time of 1:20.96, under the previous pool record.

On the women’s side, sophomore Rosalee Springer led the way with three top-three finishes. Springer placed third in the 200-yard backstroke, third in the 200-yard free, and second in the 50-yard free with a blazing time of 23.62. Junior Katie Yee made big contributions for the Red in the butterfly events, placing third in the 200-yard fly with a time of 2:02.96, and second in the 100-yard fly coming in at 55.64.

Junior Hojung Yoon also racked up three podium finishes with a third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 56.18 and two second-place finishes in the 200-yard IM and 200-yard back. Other notable performances include senior Kate Li placing second in the 100-yard free in 51.57, and junior Katie Yee coming in second in the 100-yard fly with a time of 55.64.

The women also placed second in the 200-yard medley and freestyle relays, with a time of 1:42.46 in the medley relay and 1:33.79 in the free relay.

Next up for the Red is another Ivy League tri-meet against University of Pennsylvania and Princeton on Friday, Nov. 21 and Saturday, Nov. 22 at home in Teagle Pool.
