Golf Finishes With Ivy Championships

The climax of the golf team’s season finally arrives this weekend when it competes for the Ivy League championship in Galloway Township, N.J. The Red is confident in its abilities and is ready to prove over the course of 54 holes this weekend that it is the best in the Ivy League.
Sophomore Robert Cronheim, who leads the team in scoring this season and was the Red’s top finisher at the Ivy League championships last year, is particularly confident after continually improving his game each week throughout the season.
“I’ve felt great [practicing this week],” said Cronheim, who is coming off of a fourth place finish at the Princeton Invitational last weekend. “Probably the best I’ve felt all year.”

The gymnastics team closes out its season this weekend when it competes in the USAG National championships along with seven other schools in Shreveport, La.
After a three-week layoff from its last competition at the ECAC championships, the Red is ready to finish off its season strong.
“We’re all really excited,” said freshman Maddie Pearsall, who placed 12th while representing the Red as an individual at the NCAA Northeast Regionals last weekend. “We had a really good practice today, we’re getting pumped. We really feel ready to go.”

Golf Places 11th in Last Match Before Ivies

For its last tune-up before the Ivy League championships, the golf team traveled to Princeton, N.J. to compete in the Princeton Invitational this past weekend. The tournament consisted of 36 holes of play on Saturday, with a final round of 18 holes on Sunday. The Red placed 11th out of 14 teams; not one of their strongest performances this season. The bright spot of the weekend came from sophomore Rob Cronheim, who placed fourth overall in the tournament. Ironically, he did not feel he played to his potential.
“This past weekend was the worst I’ve hit all year,” said Cronheim, who finished with a weekend total of 213. “But I finally put the ball in the hole [putting].”

Cornell Track Travels to Quaker Invitational, Hopes for Clear Skies

The men’s and women’s track teams travel to Philadelphia, Penn. this weekend to compete in the Quaker Invitational, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania. The competition will be strong, as Army, Delaware, Gettysburg, Haverford, La Salle, Rowan, Towson and Villanova, along with other schools, will all be competing in the invitational.
This will be the first event for the Red since its strong performance in Irvine, Calif. at the UC Irvine Collegiate Classic two weekends ago, where the men and women combined for 13 wins and 50 top-5 finishes. A sense of momentum is something the Red is looking forward to carrying into its competition this weekend.

Golf Team Restarts With Loss

The golf team traveled to Towson, Md. this past weekend for its first regular season match since October. The Red kicked of the spring portion of their season at the Towson Lacrosse Homes Collegiate Invitational, competing against 18 other schools from across the country. The Red placed eighth in the tournament, finishing with a final score of 622, not as high as it had hoped for. But just to be back into its regular season schedule was a great feeling for the team, said sophomore Robert Cronheim.
“It feels great to be competing again,” Cronheim said, who finished with a two-day total of 154 and who also leads the team in scoring this season.
