Though Harvard and Dartmouth have both struggled in non-conference play, junior Jessy Berkey (above) and the softball team does not underestimate the Ivy foes it will face this weekend.
Senior pitcher Jenn Meunier (19) along with freshmen Ali Tomlinson and Elizabeth Dalrymple make up part of the Red’s outstanding rotation.
Junior Jessy Berkey (12) shows off her baserunning prowess. The Red went 11-5 over Spring Break including two complete-game shutouts.
Sophomore infielder Elise Menaker, the Ancient Eight’s first Player of the Week for the 2008 season, will play in the Stetson Invitational and Rebel Spring Games over Spring Break.
Though the Red’s struggling offense is struggling, senior infielder Jimmy Heinz is third on the team with a .250 batting average.
Senior ace Jenna Meunier was instrumental in the Red’s win, pitching a 4 1/3 inning no-hitter.
Cornell will face opponents both home and away during this weekend’s Classic. The Red hope to capitalize on early momentum from last weekend’s 3-1 tournament successes.
The Red looked good in its season opener against Siena, but lost its next three games to finish the weekend 1-3.
Last year the Red swept the Classic on the way to a 12-0 start. This year Cornell lost its second game, but still finished 3-1.
