Cornell takes on Yale and Brown this weekend who are breathing down the Red’s neck in search of the Ivy League Tournament.
The Cornell volleyball team had an eventful weekend of Ivy play, as the Red celebrated its senior night during its last two home games against Harvard and Dartmouth. The Red struggled to hold down Harvard in what became a 3-1 loss, but the women managed to bounce back with a 3-0 sweep against Dartmouth the following day.
After losing in its last match with the Lions, the Red look to bounce back and defeat Columbia at home and even the season record.
The Cornell volleyball team suffered a pair of losses to two Ivy League foes this past weekend, falling to both Brown and Yale at Newman Arena.
The women managed to secure victories against Bucknell, 3-0, and Buffalo, 3-1, but fell to the Oakland Grizzlies, 1-3, in a heated contest.
Last season did not pan out well for the Red, finishing in last place among the Ivy League with a 6-18 overall record, including 2-12 in the Ancient Eight.
The Cornell women’s lacrosse team has undoubtedly had a very successful season, only losing to high-caliber, top-15 teams in Maryland, Syracuse and Princeton. The team has already surpassed its win total from last season and improved its win percentage from .562 to .786, so anything more this year is icing on the cake. But with an Ivy League title at play, the No. 18 Red (11-3, 5-1 Ivy) must defeat No. 14 Penn (11-3, 5-1) on their senior day for a chance to share the title with the Tigers.
The Red lost to Syracuse by a score of 7-9, but remained resilient throughout the entire match. The team will face Harvard on Saturday.
The Cornell women’s lacrosse team continued its impressive season, avenging its loss to Dartmouth last year, winning 12-5 on Saturday. The Red now sits at 9-1 on the season including 4-0 in the Ivy League.
