George Desdunes ’13 died Friday morning after he was found unresponsive in the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity house, according to an Ithaca Police Department statement. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding Desdunes’ death, but the Cornell University Police Department does not believe the death was a suicide, the University said.

Desdunes was found unresponsive in the SAE house at 7 a.m. Friday. He was transported to Cayuga Medical Center, where he later died, according to a statement from the Ithaca Police Department.

The investigation is continuing, and a forensic autopsy will be conducted at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton on Saturday. The Ithaca Police Department is leading the investigation, with assistance from CUPD and the New York State Police Forensic Identification Unit, according to the IPD statement.

The Ithaca Police statement asked anyone with information about Desdunes’ death to call the department at 607-272-9973.

Desdunes was majoring in Biology and Society in the College of Human Ecology and lived in Brooklyn, New York. He was a brother in SAE.

A meeting was held between SAE brothers and several University administrators in Willard Straight Hall Friday afternoon.
