On Sunday, pro-police Back the Blue protestors and police abolitionist counterprotesters clashed during a protest condemning Mayor Myrick’s ’09 police reform plan.
Cornell’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Lecture, an annual event that celebrates King’s life and legacy, will host a conversation with acclaimed Nigerian-American author and activist Ijeoma Oluo.
This increasing activism represents a positive development. Athletes deserve to have a voice on social issues that are often deeply personal to them.
Students and faculty discussed their own activism and scrutinized Cornell’s solutions to inequality during an Oct. 14 conversation on “Anti-Racism, Activism and Institutional Change” organized by the Institute for Comparative Modernities.
When my brother and I were younger, we often used his magnifying glass to try and start mini fires amongst the dehydrated weeds in our backyard. I know that it is cliche to write this; but gosh were those simpler times. A few weeks ago, I read a tweet that said “stop saying ‘fuck 2020.’”
The tweeter (@elinamarchh) continued on to say “[stop] acting like police brutality, medical racism, extreme poverty, etc. are part of some weird curse. They’re not specific to 2020.
