To maintain its status as a leader in promoting campus and climate sustainability, Cornell has announced a new sustainability force: the Sustainable Cornell Council.
With a new score of 74.47, Cornell is ranked as one of the top 20 “Coolest Schools.” Cornell’s score was based off of the new Sustainable Landscapes Trail, Anabel’s Grocery store, the Lake Source Cooling energy system and the in-progress Earth Source Heat energy project.
The trail features 19 stops, marked by posts with QR codes that lead to a descriptive webpage about the individual project and how it contributes to Cornell’s sustainability goals, Prof. Nina Bassuk explained.
Amidst the general upheaval created by the economy, a significant environmental initiative on campus and Reimagining Cornell, the Graduate and Professional Student Assembly held their first meeting of the semester last night in the Straight with approximately 35 in attendance. In addition to the internal campus initiatives, the GPSA also began to discuss the Ivy Summit, an annual summit for all graduate-level assembly members on Ivy League campuses, which Cornell is hosting this year.
