A Tompkins County Area Transit’s Route 14 bus crashed into several homes Friday on the 400 block of Hook Place in Ithaca’s West End after the driver lost control of the vehicle, according to an Ithaca Police Department press release.
The statement comes less than 24 hours after IPD made 9 arrests of protesters following a Rep. Tom Reed (R-N.Y.) event to clean up graffiti from the Oct. 16 demonstrations outside the Tompkins County Republican Party storefront.
Ithaca police began arresting several protesters outside of police headquarters Thursday evening. The arrests followed a demonstration against the arrests of three protesters earlier in the day.
The Ithaca Police Department arrested two protesters on Sunday at a rally against police brutality outside the police headquarters on Clinton Street.
The bank burglary comes on the heels of several other burglaries in the Ithaca area in recent weeks. Two unoccupied fraternity houses in Ithaca were burglarized between Sept. 26 and Sept. 28. Before that, IPD was already investigating a streak of burglaries that occured between late August and mid September.
The driver continued to flee after striking the woman, and she was airlifted to a regional trauma center, according to the Ithaca Police Department press release.
After motorists drive through Black Lives Matter protestors, Ithaca mayor and IPD continue to investigate the altercation.
The Ithaca Police Department responded to several reports of shots fired in the 900 block of East State Street at around 5:12 p.m. on Friday, according to an IPD press release. No victims have been located.
Upon arrival at the store, which is located at 210 S. Cayuga Street, the officers confirmed that a robbery occurred. The suspect allegedly demanded money from the cash registers and implied that he was armed, the release stated.
